Google and Apple have pulled TikTok from their stores in India, one of the app’s greatest user bases, as per reports from Reuters and Quartz. The move pursues a solicitation from the state court on April third to boycott access to TikTok on Google‘s Play Store and Apple‘s App Store after concerns were raised that people were utilizing it for obscene purposes and exploiting kids.
TikTok has been downloaded more than 230 million times in India, as indicated by analytics firm Sensor Tower. A TikTok agent told that the organization has “confidence in the Indian judicial system” including that “we are idealistic around a result that would be generally welcomed by more than 120 million monthly active users in India.”
The Indian state court’s investigation concerning TikTok has been progressing for a considerable length of time. An outsider investigation concerning the app and prior calls from the government prompted individuals requesting TikTok to be prohibited completely. M. Manikandan, information technology minister of the Indian state Tamil Nadu, declared in February that the government would prescribe the boycott. There were worries from legislators that TikTok empowered teens and young grown-ups to take an interest in “cultural degradation.”
