Google‘s automated calling service, Duplex, is beginning to come to iPhones and significantly more Android phones. The service, which lets a human-sounded robot voice make call on your behalf to book hotel reservations, propelled on the most recent Pixel devices in December. Google reported in March that it would come to more phones in a matter of seconds, and now that rollout has started.
In an email, a Google representative affirmed that more extensive Duplex rollout began for the current week. The service should be accessible on all devices running Android 5.0 and higher just as any iPhones with the Google Assistant application introduced. At present, the service just works in English, in 43 US states.
XDA-Developers reports seeing Duplex work on Samsung’s Galaxy S10 Plus. We haven’t seen reports of Duplex being live on some other phones yet, however it’s an indication that the extension is in progress.
Google initially uncovered Duplex simply under a year back, with an amazing demo that demonstrated a close human computerized voice making a phone call to a restaurant and easily dealing with communications with a genuine human to book a table. There’s been some pushback against the service, Google at first didn’t distinguish its callers as robots, however it later changed course — and there are still worries that the service could be mishandled to disturb restaurant. For the time being, Duplex still isn’t accessible on enough phones to perceive the amount of a disturbance or an assistance the service will truly be.
