Today, as advancements in the field of information technology are having deep impacts in every field of life, weaponry is no exception. Technological advancements has advanced the weapons and made them more efficient in the way they work. In ancient times, people used to have weapons like swords, bow and arrow, axe, etc. But with the passage of time, man has made more and more efficient weapons with the help of technological advancements.
Technological advancements in the weaponry in different areas around the globe had made vary deep impacts on the history of nations. Countries with more stock of weaponry are always considered more powerful, these countries have more influence over the world politics then the countries with not much technologically developed weapon system.
In the recent centuries, we have seen a huge deal of technological developments in weaponry. From small weapons such as personal guns like pistol and rifles to large weapons like machine guns, from fighter jets to submarines, there is a long list of technological developments in the field of weaponry.
Military technology, equipment, structures and vehicles used specifically for the purpose of warfare. New machines were being developed all the time to overcome the difficult conditions of the warfare.
Sadly, a lot of new technology was focused only towards making more powerful, deadlier weapons to fight the war. The technology of weaponry may be divided into two categories. Offensive arms to harm the enemy and defensive weapons for the safety of borders, to maintain peace and to ward off offensive blows. Countries are investing a huge part of their budget in weaponry to have additional technologically advanced weapons. This race is leading mankind to make more and more deadliest weapons, which if used, can wipe off half of the people from the world.
World War I was a time of fast change. Engineers and other creative minds worked together to develop new technology in weaponry to use in battlefield. Airplanes , at the first they were used only to observe enemy troops. As their effectiveness became apparent, both sides shot planes down from the grounds with rifles and pistols or from machine guns on other plane. Then in wild air battles, the highly maneuverable fighter planes attacked each other. Back to the ground, tanks worked effectively on firm dry ground, in spite of their slow speed and mechanical problems. At sea, submarines attacked ships far from port. Warships became faster and more powerful then ever before and used newly invented radios to communicate effectively.
Similarly in World War II, technology has played significant role with the development of scariest and deadliest weapons of that time. Military weapons technology experienced rapid advances during World War II, indeed the war begun with the most armies utilizing technology that had changed little from World War I, however only within six years, armies around the world had developed jet aircraft, ballistic missiles and even atomic weapons in the case of united states. And upon throwing atomic bomb on two cities of Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, had opened the eyes of people that the technological developments in weaponry can be venomous to humans.
Today, the situation is so worsened that any war involving two or three atomic powers can wipe off human race from the face of earth. It has become very necessary to keep the peace of the world and for this purpose every country should try its best.
